Daily Endeavor Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy last updated September 24, 2009

Daily Endeavor ("we," "us") respects your online privacy. We want you to be familiar with the different types of information we store and the various ways in which we use it. This Privacy Policy (the "Policy") describes our practices in connection with Personal Information that we collect through our web site located at http://www.dailyendeavor.com (the "Site"). By using the Site, you agree to the terms and conditions of this Policy. If you do not agree to the terms and conditions of this Policy, please do not use the Site.

What Types of Information Do You Collect?

We gather two basic types of information through the Site: "Personally Identifiable Information" and "Non-Personally Identifiable Information" (or "Non-PII"). Personally Identifiable Information is information that identifies you as an individual. Non-Personally Identifiable Information is aggregated information, demographic information, IP addresses and any other information that does not reveal your specific identity.

Personally Identifiable Information

You do not have to provide Personally Identifiable Information to use the Site. If you decide to write a review or use certain features, we may request Personally Identifiable Information such as a valid email address to complete your registration.

We welcome users to register with their real names but if you want to post reviews anonymously, you can do so by choosing a fictitious username. If you have any concerns, please email us at support@dailyendeavor.com .

Non-Personally Identifiable Information

When you visit and interact with the Site, Daily Endeavor and third parties with whom Daily Endeavor has contracted to provide services to Daily Endeavor may collect Non-PII (for example, a list of pages visited). Non-PII is generally collected through the Site from five different sources: server log files, environmental variables, cookies, pixel tags and other similar technologies, and information that you voluntarily provide.

Server Log Files

Your Internet Protocol (IP) address is a number that is automatically assigned to the computer that you are using by your Internet Service Provider (ISP). This number is identified and logged automatically in our server log files whenever you visit the Site, along with the time(s) of your visit(s) and the page(s) that you visited. We use your IP address, and the IP addresses of all users, for security and monitoring purposes, protecting against violations, calculating Site usage levels, helping diagnose problems with the Site's servers, and administering the Site. Collecting IP addresses is a standard practice on the Internet and is done automatically by many web sites.

Environmental Data

We and our service providers may also collect certain environmental data, such as your MAC address, computer type (Windows or Macintosh), screen resolution, OS version, Internet browser, and Internet browser version. These environmental variables are collected automatically by most browsers and can be used to optimize your viewing of the Site.

Cookies

We and our service providers may use software tags called “cookies” on the Site. Cookies are data that a web server transfers to an individual's computer for record-keeping purposes. For example, cookies help remember you when you login. Cookies are an industry standard used by most web sites and can help users' ongoing access to and use of a particular site; cookies do not cause damage to your computer systems or files. If you do not want information collected through the use of cookies, there is a simple procedure in most browsers that allows you to automatically decline cookies, or to be given the choice of declining or accepting the transfer of a particular cookie, or cookies from a particular web site, to your computer.

The information we collect with cookies is not sold, rented, or shared with any outside parties. Users who disable their Web browser's ability to accept cookies will be able to browse our Site but will not be able to successfully use the complete Site.

Pixel Tags

We and our service providers may also use so-called "pixel tags," "web beacons," "clear GIFs" or similar means (collectively, "Pixel Tags") in connection with some Site pages and HTML-formatted email messages to, among other things, compile aggregate statistics about Site usage and response rates. A Pixel Tag is an electronic image, often a single pixel (1x1), that is ordinarily not visible to Site visitors and may be associated with Cookies on the visitors’ hard drives. Pixel Tags allow us to count users who have visited certain pages of the Site, to deliver branded services, and to help determine the effectiveness of promotional or advertising campaigns. For example, when used in HTML-formatted email messages, Pixel Tags can tell the sender whether and when the email has been opened.

Information That You Provide

When you post content to the Site (e.g. a profile photo), we will store and may publicly display it in order to provide the services that we offer. When we display your content, we do so together with your account username. If you would like your account username not to identify you personally, be sure to choose one that does not.

When you use the site, we also collect Non-PII (e.g. a vote cast). When such information is not combined with any Personally Identifiable Information, such information is considered to be Non-PII, as it does not personally identify you or any other user. Additionally, we may aggregate Personally Identifiable Information in a manner such that the end-product does not personally identify you or any other user of the Site, for example, by using Personally Identifiable Information to calculate the percentage of our users who have a particular zip code. Such aggregate information is considered Non-PII for purposes of this Policy.

How Is The Personal Information Used?

We do not share, sell or rent your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes.

Our primary purpose in collecting personal information is to provide you with a safe, efficient and customized use of the Site. We may use your personal information to:

  • authenticate for registration and login;
  • respond to the the customer support you have requested;
  • troubleshoot problems;
  • manage traffic loads and information technology requirements for providing reliable service;
  • prevent potentially prohibited or illegal activities, and enforce our Terms of Use;
  • customize, measure, and improve our services and content
  • tell you about service updates and promotional offers based on your communication preferences.

The Site allows visitors to share information with their friends. If you provide a friend's email address, we will share the information you request us to (e.g. a review you've written or an invitation). As a legal precaution to protect against abuse of these features, we retain their addresses for a limited time. Unless they register with the site, we do not send them any other emails or use their email address for any other purpose.

What Personal Information Is Disclosed To Others?

We may disclose Personally Identifiable Information in connection with our receipt of a subpoena or search warrant or other legal process. We may also disclose Personally Identifiable Information, including cookies and IP addresses, to third parties who use this information to help manage our own websites and deliver products and information to you. These third parties are obligated by contract to keep the information confidential and are prohibited from using it for any other purpose. From time to time, we may choose to buy or sell assets. In the case of these types of transactions, customer information is typically one of the business assets that is transferred. If Daily Endeavor, or substantially all of its assets, were acquired, customer information would be one of the assets that is transferred.

No method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure, however. While we use the commercially reasonable means above, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

You agree you will not share your password with any other individual. If you believe your password has become compromised, you must immediately notify us of the problem by contacting us (see "Contacting Us" below). Note that if you choose to notify us via physical mail, this will delay the time it takes for us to respond to the problem).

Phishing

We do not and will not, at any time, request Personally Identifiable Information or other information in a non-secure or unsolicited e-mail or telephone communication. Identity theft and the practice currently known as “phishing” are of great concern to us. For more information about phishing, visit the Federal Trade Commission’s website at http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/alerts/alt127.shtm .

We Prohibit Spam, Spoofing, Spyware and Other Violations

Neither our visitors nor the Company will tolerate spam or other privacy violations. You are not licensed to add other Website visitors, even a visitor who has purchased an item from you, to your mailing list (email or physical mail) if they have not consented to receive marketing communications from you. You may not use our communication tools to send spam or otherwise send content that would violate our Terms of Service. We track IP addresses and reserve the right to automatically scan or manually filter messages to check for spam, viruses, phishing attacks and other malicious activity or illegal or prohibited content, but we do not permanently store messages sent through these tools.
